The permissions and fees required to reproduce images appearing on this site depend on the context of use.

Educational use by teachers, students, and researchers is free of license fees and is strongly encouraged. The image must be attributed to Alex Wild, and online use must be accompanied by a link back to http://www.alexanderwild.com.

Selected non-profit uses may also be free of charge if prior permission is obtained, please contact me for details. Most other uses require payment of license fees.

All of the photographs appearing on this web site are registered copyright of Alex Wild and are available for licensed use. With few exceptions I do not sell the images themselves or transfer the copyright. Rather, I provide licenses for limited, pre-specified uses.

License fees for commercial uses vary depending on the intended medium of each image. For your project, I will provide specific rights-managed pricing if you contact me with the following information:

• file name(s) that you wish to license
  
• context of use (book, magazine, advertising, etc.)
  
• size of reproduction
  
• size of circulation
  

Fees are negotiable, but generally fall between $40 and $500 per image for most commercial uses. I do give discounts for multiple images. Some countries deduct taxes from license fees; in these cases the license fees will be raised by an amount equivalent to the tax.

I can also be commissioned for custom photography projects.

Rights-managed images will be delivered as high-quality digital files between 2000 and 5400 pixel-width, the size of each image is listed individually in the photo galleries. I can transfer high-resolution JPG files over a privately-viewable web page customized to your request. Uncompressed TIF files may be mailed by CD or sent directly to your company’s ftp site. For some high-end uses, I am willing to make RAW files available.

Unless I am in the field, I normally respond to photo requests on the same day.

Unlimited, royalty-free use of images is also possible. This option is more expensive, but will be more convenient as the license can be purchased directly through this web site. To purchase a royalty-free license, click on the "buy" button that appears above each image in the gallery, as shown at right.

Click on "Downloads" to select the most appropriate option for your royalty-free use, and follow the prompts to complete the transaction.

Copyright infringement policy

Unfortunately, I contend with hundreds of copyright infringements every year. I have implemented the following policy in an attempt to maintain control over my work.

Unauthorized non-commercial uses of my copyrighted images and text are subject to DMCA takedown requests without advance notice.

Unauthorized commercial infringements of my copyrighted images will be met with invoices covering my regular commercial-use fees (at a minimum of $95/image) plus a $50 infringement handling fee per image.

Infringement invoices are non-negotiable, and non-payment of infringement invoices will result in legal action to recover statutory damage as outlined in Title 17, § 504, of the United States copyright laws.

All of my images are registered copyright with the U.S. copyright office.
