As much as I would love to see images of the beautiful creatures featured on these pages spread freely and widely around the world, the unfortunate truth is that these photographs are expensive to produce. They require professional quality lenses and cameras, costly travel to insect-ridden jungles, and considerable time invested in photo processing and in researching the biology of the insects. The images you see here are only possible because editorial and commercial users of my photographs balance the costs through the payment of image license fees.
All of the photographs on
http://www.alexanderwild.com are registered copyright of Alex Wild and are available for licensed use. With few exceptions I do not sell the images themselves or transfer the copyright. Rather, I provide licenses for limited, pre-specified uses.
License fees vary depending on the intended use of each image. For your project, I will provide specific pricing if you
contact me with the following information:
- file name(s) that you wish to license
- context of use (book, magazine, advertising, etc.)
- size of reproduction
- size of circulation
Fees are negotiable, but generally fall between $80 and $350 per image for most commercial uses. I do give discounts for multiple images.
Educational use of images by students, teachers, and researchers is free of charge and is strongly encouraged. Conditions for free educational use require that you obtain prior permission and provide appropriate attribution. For online educational use, I also require a link back to
http://www.alexanderwild.com or to
http://www.myrmecos.net.
If you would like to see more of my images, I have posted a larger collection at
http://www.myrmecos.net, my non-commercial site.
Images will be delivered as high-quality digital files between 2000 and 3500 pixel-width, the size of each image is listed individually in the photo galleries. I can transfer high-resolution JPG files over a privately-viewable web page customized to your request. Uncompressed TIF files may be mailed by CD or sent directly to your company’s ftp site. For some high-end uses, I am willing to make RAW files available.
Unless I am in the field, I normally respond to photo requests on the same day.
