Wasmannia
is a genus of tiny myrmicine ants native to forests of Central and South America. The group contains several poorly-known species and one major pest, the little fire ant W. auropunctata. Human commerce has introduced the little fire ant to warmer regions around the globe, and the species has been particularly damaging on oceanic islands.
Wasmannia auropunctata is one of the smallest of the major pest ants.
