Sericomyrmex
is a small genus of fungus-growing ants found in the New World tropics. These insects are close relatives of Trachymyrmex but tend to have a denser covering of fine hairs on the body. Colonies of Sericomyrmex can be relatively large, with more than a thousand individuals.
